Evora and Alentejo Family Tour

The best landscapes from prehistory untiltoday! A place where you will be able tobreath in the fresh air of nature while cyclingthrough the oak covered plains. During this journey, you will travel in time as you discover historical sites spanning from the prehistoric times to the renaissance. There will be severalchurches, castles, monasteries and convents all which represent a ripple of our history! Outof all places, Évora will most definitely be thehighlight and you will have plenty of time toadmire its beauty and history. Enjoy thewonders of the region and relax by theswimming pool, ride horses, walk aroundtypical villages and "invade" those palacesand castles; all while in family!



 Day by Day

 Day 1 - Pick up and reception 
Our guide will pick you up at the airport and drive you to the interior of Portugal. Welcome to Alentejo! This first day will be reserved for some relaxation after your arrival to Mora. Enjoy your stay in a town center accommodation, that epitomizes the Alentejo culture, with blue and white corridors linking the corridors tothe patio

 Day 2 - From Mora to Paiva 25 Km

On day one, you will start biking at the town center, head down somenarrow streets and then arrive to an old train station. Do not forget to visit it and to take a second and appreciate the slow andquiet life of the countryside of Portugal. As you follow the train tracks tothe sweet water aquarium, you will have an opportunity to discover morefantastic scenery of rivers and lakes! Then, you will be making your wayto Pavia and the landscape will most certainly not disappoint. Pavia is anold town with a traditional architectural style and atmospher.
 

 Day 3 - From Paiva to Arraoilos 21 Km

A little more of our culture is waiting to be embraced today!After cycling through local farms, you will visit another old train stationand arrive at Arraiolos, an old Portuguese town that holds castles andmany typical houses. It is famous for its embroidered wool rugs andcarpets which have been made since the middle ages. Arraiolos also hassome gastronomical delights that will make your tummy very happy!After a nice meal, recharge your batteries at a beautiful historicalconvent, where you will be spending the night. 


 Day 4 - From Arraiolos to Evora 31 Km

The journey will take you calmly to Évora, a Unesco World Heritage Site!You will be amazed with the beauty and history of this old town. The outerwalls, the roman temple, the cathedral, it is all right around the corner,waiting for your visit. You will stay here for the next three nights, so takeyour time and each day explore a bit of this heritage and capital of the region.

 
 Day 5 - Cycling: Bike Evora Loop to Dolmans 34 Km

This day will be the most challenging but simultaneously, the mostspectacular one.In these sights there are traces of the presence of manin the plains of Alentejo since ancient times. Thus, making this a veryimportant area for the scholars of today that are studying this specificage of mankind. After having visited some of these places, you will bereturning to the old historic center. Riding in the quiet countryside of Évora is all about admiring the view, so make sure you take some time to contemplate your surroundings on this wonderful day! You will also havethe chance of visiting a cork-hotel before the end of the day. 
 

 Day 6 -  Bike Evora Loop to Aqueduct 25 Km

Distance: ca. 25 km – Level: easy
Elevation gain 200 m

Accommodation in Vila Galé Evora

This day will be dedicated to see how water was transported to the citiesin the 1500's.You will be following a spectacular ancient aqueduct and admiring itswater channeling system. As the day consists of following the aqueduct,the ride will be a circular one. Nice little trails alongside the aqueduct willbe an absolute joy for everyone. This can also be a chance of going forsome more caches. As you return to Évora, it is time to do our lastsightseeing, as we will be departing tomorrow


 Day 7 - Back to Lisbon - Transfer 

This is it! It went by so fast.Today, it is time to gather all your memories, luggage, belongings and say good bye to Portugal. It has been a great adventure and we would lovefor you to come and discover more of Portugal
