Beaches and the Westernmost point of Europe... an adventure waiting for you

 This amazing daily tour takes you to the westernmost point of Europe.
Located at 38° 47´ North and 9° 30´ West, Cabo da Roca offers a breath-taking view over the Atlantic Ocean and over the Sintra Forest, and is also an important coordinate for those who navigate along the coast. It is the westernmost part of the European continent which will be indicated on the certificate visitors get as a souvenir.

 

Program: Walking from Guincho Beach to Cabo da Roca

Reception of the participants and Briefing 9:00 AM.

Meeting place: Cascais train station (pick up at a hotel in Cascais is also available). Transfer to Guincho Beach. 

Start in Guincho Beach and finish in Cabo da Roca.

We reccomend that you bring a picnic lunch for this walking day.

APPROXIMATE DURATION: 5 HOURS

This small adventure starts on the Cascais coast, at the Guincho beach; continues amidst a fantastic landscape between Serra de Sintra and the Atlantic Ocean; and it ends in Cabo da Roca. Here all you have to do is enjoy the unique view and taste delicious food in a typical restaurant. 

Historical records indicate that there was a Fort on Cabo da Roca, in the 17th century, that played an important part in guarding the entrance in Lisbon's harbour, forming a defensive line along the coast. Today we can find its traces, and the big Lighthouse that still playes an important role for navigation. 

Places to visit: Guincho Beach, Abano Beach, Fornos da Cal, Cinzentos Beach and Cabo da Roca

The return to Cascais is made by BUS (3,75€), or UBER (11€-15€) - not included in the tour price.

Levels

Easy - No walking experience necessary. No hills or not steep hills, short duration. 
Medium - A little longer with some hills that are not steep or only a few hills but steep.
Difficult - Requires good physical condition. Are usually long, with several hills of all type. 

The participants should take into account the terrain and the km/miles of each track and be sure to check in advance that they are in good physical condition to do it.

NOT RECOMMENDED FOR PEOPLE WITH VERTIGO OR FEAR OF HEIGHTS
