Day 1 - Reception of the participants and Briefing

Welcome to Porto! Our guide will transfer you from the airport to this amazing city with its indescribable mysticism. Take the rest of the day off to experience the city, taste the food, go to the top of the hills to see the superb view and interact with the lovely people. Your journey starts here.
Porto is a coastal city in the northwest of Portugal and its known for its imposing bridges and port wine production. In the medieval district of Ribeira, on the banks of the river, explore the narrow cobblestone streets that pass between the houses. Two of the main attactions are the São Francisco Church - known for its lush baroque interior with ornate gilded carvings; and the sumptuous 19th-century Palácio da Bolsa - a stock market built to impress potential European investors.

Day 2 - Porto to Aveiro - 90Km +300m

DISTANCE: 90 KM + 300 SOMEWHAT DIFFICULT
A fresh day by the sea! You will also have some pine tree forests to cross and relax along some easy and flat roads leading you to Ria de Aveiro. The river Vouga Delta (Ria de Aveiro) is a shallow coastal lagoon connected to the Atlantic Ocean. It’s unique mesotidal wetland area has several branches forming islands and it is a pleasure to ride along. Arrive at the dune system of São Jacinto, an incredible natural reserve home to many valuable species and perfect to watch some wildlife. At last, this is where you will catch the ferry that will take you to our own little Portuguese Venice - “Aveiro”.

Day 3 - Aveiro to Coimbra - 92Km + 400m

DISTANCE: 92Km + 400m DIFFICULT
The path leaving Aveiro crosses lands of salt-harvesting ponds, offering interesting views of the ancestral work in the estuary. The route ahead follows a dock, offering views of Aveiro harbor and some old codfishcatching boats. Halfway you'll reach Mira beach and leave the coast at that point. The scenery will change as you ride towards the heart of Coimbra. This charming city was the first capital of Portugal, and the first University was placed there in 1537, where many Portuguese writers, doctors, philosophers, or scientists studied throughout the times.

Day 4 - Coimbra to São Pedro de Moel - 100Km + 640m

São Pedro de Moel, located between the pine forest and the sea, São Pedro de Moel is a splendid beach sheltered by a row of houses, replete with good taste, conveying a somewhat aristocratic air. Ideal for enthusiasts of open air sports given its range of facilities including a beach volleyball court, quality year round surfing and all the thrills of sea and underwater fishing. Late on, the café terraces and an impressive sunset best characterise the elegant, cosmopolitan and lively ambience of the nightlife in São Pedro de Moel.

Day 5 - São Pedro de Moel to Óbidos - 68Km + 850m |
DISTANCE: 68 KM + 850m SOMEWHAT DIFFICULT
You are halfway through the tour, and the excitement never stops. Leave S. Pedro de Moel and ride the coast until the epic cliff of Nazaré, a typical Portuguese fishing village, where they dry the fish under the sun. Continue to Óbidos, the most beautiful and well-preserved medieval village in Portugal, with an incredible castle on top. Feel the middle ages theme in the air as you let this beautiful place put a spell on you.

Day 6 - Óbidos to Peniche - 67Km + 550m |
DISTANCE: 67 KM + 550 m EASY
This day begins close to the Óbidos lagoon which at some point joins the ocean – a wonderful place with a gorgeous beach! Continue towards the south and you will discover great rock formations, Carvoeiro Cape and the incredible town of Peniche, a peninsula. Take this opportunity to savour a variety of fresh fish and seafood at the numerous restaurants located in Peniche.

Day 7 - Peniche to Santa Cruz (Porto Novo) - 40Km + 450m |
DISTANCE: 73 KM + 900m SOMEWHAT DIFFICULT
Today you start by the sea, but soon go in land where a different scenery shows up. Typical villages, white houses with red roofs and the beautiful countryside will invigorate you! Through incredible valleys of limestone with vibrant green Mediterranean vegetation, you will approach your destination.

Day 8 - Santa Cruz to Sintra - 43Km + 850m |
DISTANCE: 43 KM + 850 m DIFFICULT
Sintra Natural Park and hills will be the set for today’s adventures cycling on a constantly up-and-down. But before, delight yourself with some of the stunning places Sintra has to offer, like Monserrate Palace, where you stop and visit an unique and exquisite example of Romanticism. Arriving at the village of Sintra, an UNESCO site, you have the rest of the day to explore. Worth a visit is the astonishing Pena Palace, finding a wild fantasy of domes, towers, ramparts and walkways on one of the highest mountain peaks of Sintra. Cross the hills to the top and be engulfed by the mystic environment close to the Franciscan Capuchin Convent built in the rocks and lined with cork. Continue riding to the Atlantic Ocean and get to westernmost point of Continental Europe - Roca Cape, a promontory rising 150m above the sea. Enjoy the view, take memorable photos and at the end we will pick you up and transfer you to Lisbon.
