Along the Alentejo Coast Route... the best route for a cycling adventure!

Enjoy Portugal cycling along the beautiful coast from Tróia to Lagos with its exuberant landscape and many picturesque places. Meet the people and its reknown hospitality. This is a scenic 7 days trip during which you will enjoy a Mediterranean climate and quality gastronomy while you adventure yourself in this challenge that will be an excellent and unforgettable personal experience.

Most of the tracks take place in the Sudoeste Alentejano e Costa Vicentina Nature Park. It is a protected area with vast white sand beaches and several smaller beaches in the cliffs and typical fishing harbors. The beautiful landscape has a diversified flora and fauna being an elected place for various birds species.

The accommodation was selected to meet your needs so that you will have the best possible comfort and rest after an exciting and adventurous day. The FreeFlow team will always be nearby to make sure you get the best possible services in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.

 Day by Day

 Day 1 - Pick up and reception 
Pick up and reception at Lisbon Airport followed by a short transfer (60 km) to the overnight accommodation in Setúbal or Tróia

 Day 2 - Tróia – Melides – Vila Nova de Sto André 53 Km

This is the first cycling day and the track is easy and peaceful. Ideal to cycle in a calm pace and take in the beautiful landscape of the Tróia Peninsula and work out an appetite for lunch at the beautiful Praia do Carvalhal.

 Day 3 - Vila Nova Santo André – Vila Nova de Milfontes 55 Km

Here we have an easy day that opens several options.
You can choose to go straight into Vila Nova de Milfontes and spend the day at our leisure either visiting the village or just going to the beach. Otherwise we can choose to stop on a couple of beaches and have a longer stay at the village of Porto Côvo.

 Day 4 - Vila Nova de Milfontes – Brejão / Odeceixe 50 Km

This day will be spent entirely within the Costa Vicentina Natural Park. We will go through different types of landscape with different points of interest like Cabo Sardão the only place in Europe where Storks build their nests on the beach cliffs.
The night will be spent at Brejão or in Odeceixe village

 Day 5 - Cycling: Brejão - Odeceixe - Aljezur 34 Km

Today, after passing Odeceixe we will cycle towards the ancient village of Aljezur. From here we can adventure ourselves and get to know the beautiful beaches of Arrifana and Monte Clérigo in the Natural Park of the Vicentine Coast. 
Aljezur is perfect for a quiet holiday and is ideal for cycling. You have deserted beaches nearby and many typical villages to discover the “unexpected” Algarve.

Places to visit: Odeceixe beachAljezur Castle, Arrifana and Monte Clérigo Beach.

 Day 6 - Aljezur - Sagres 50 Km

Within one of the most impressive scenery of the Algarve, lays the small village of Sagres with its sea cliffs and the 15th century fortress high above the ocean. Its isolated beauty and its wild and windy beaches set Sagres apart from the other villages in the Algarve. It’s especially popular, particularly among the sunbathers and surfers. Away from the holiday villas, bars and restaurants, is the busy port and the lively marina.
From the tip of Ponta de Sagres there are great views up the coast to cape “Cabo Sao Vincente”. Today the cape is better known for its lighthouse with one of the most powerful lamps in Europe.

 Day 7 - Back to Lisbon

We start the day by saying goodbye to our trusted bicycles and hop on the 30 minutes transfer that will
take us to Lagos train station.
It’s now time to take the train back to Lisbon this should take around 4 hours, another opportunity to seat down and enjoy the Portuguese landscape only that now in an effortless way.

In Lisbon we will stay in a central hotel, and the city is now your canvas to do whatever you feel like.
