Fado emerged in a popular context in the 19th century in Lisbon, when, spontaneously and in the most diverse occasions and places, people started to sing. The themes were essentially of everyday life and urban emergency. Fado then appeared in its beginnings associated with social contexts.
All Portuguese feel Fado! Even the ones that don't like it, they feel it! Fado, for a portuguese, is more than music; because we feel every word, every note of the guitar, every sound.
